Boiler inspection reports, 1973-[ongoing].

The Risk Management Division of the Dept. of Finance was established in 1988 Mar. to handle the administration of all insurance matters for the state, including liability insurance, workman's compensation, fidelity bonds, notary bonds, boiler insurance, and the State Insurance Fund. Although the State Insurance Fund has never insured boilers, inspectors for private boiler insurers would routinely send copies of their inspection reports to the fund. The fund kept them for information purposes. Now that Risk Management is administering such coverage, the reports are kept for its benefits. Boilers are inspected about every three years. If improvements or repairs are called for by the inspector, the insured party makes the repairs and sends a letter to the State Insurance Fund detailing what repairs were made. The letter is attached to the request.
